Fyta
is located 41 km from the town of Chios. Fita means plants; and their abundance
in the area gave the name to this village.
It is a mountainous cattle-raising village that lies by the mountainside of Pelineo.
There also are exceptionally beautiful landscapes and rich spring waters that used to move 8
water mills in the past.
The castle and tower of Fyta are dated back to the year 1516 AD. The
local celebration day is July 17th, the day of Agia Marina.
