On a rocky hill, in a distance of 1 Km from the Nea Moni, we find the unbelievably beautiful village of Avgonyma, a magic village of stone little houses that are the home of today’s few permanent residents. However, during the weekends all year long, and especially in summer, the village bursts in life and the empty houses get warm thanks to the visitors.
From the middle age stone viewpoint on the west of the village, an amazing view of the Aegean sea and of Psara, and an unforgettable sunset behind the crystal waters of the bay of Elinta are the main reasons that make Avgonyma a special place. Furthermore, a unique pine covered forest, the most important of Chios, surrounds all this area, embracing the villages of Avgonyma and Anavatos, “the Mystras of Chios”. Finally, the village taverns will put a delicious end to the day.
