On a rocky hill, in a distance of one kilometer from Nea Moni, one finds the unbelievable beautiful village of Avgonyma, a magical village of  little houses, made of stone, that are the homes of only a few 'permanent' residents today.

However, during the weekends all over the year, and especially in summer, the village bursts with life.

From the rocky viewpoint on the west of the village the vistor deigns an amazing look over the Aegean sea and island of Psara. For everyone who has been there, the unforgettable sunset behind the crystal waters of the bay of Elinta is the main reasons why Avgonyma is such a special place.

Furthermore, a unique pine covered forest, the biggest one of all Chios, surrounds the area, embracing the villages of Avgonyma and Anavatos, "the Mystras of Chios". And in the end of the day the village taverns will put a delicious taste in the visitors stomache, and a memory of an unforgettable journey into his mind.
