Center for the Open Care of the Elderly
The Center for the Open Care for the Elderly was established in 1985 by the
Municipality of Chios in a reconstructed neoclassic building in the center of
the city. Expressing a modern concept for the offer of services for the elderly,
the Center offers medical care, recreation, cultural activities and
psychological support to about 350 citizens of Chios Town.
MUNICIPAL WELFARE ORGANIZATION
The Municipal Welfare
Organization was established in 1997 aiming at the planning and
implementation of social policies of various kind at local level. Among
the main objectives of this
Organization, we could mention:
- The implementation of social policy of the Municipality of Chios, especially in fields like social protection and healthcare promotion.
- The confrontation of social exclusion especially regarding young unemployed, women, elderly, ROM population, drugs addicted persons etc.
- The implementation of policies for the support of young people and families.
- The coordination and collaboration between local actors and authorities at the field of social policy.
Among the first activities of this Organization is its participation in the establishment of a Prevention Center Against the Use of Narcotics in close collaboration with other local
authorities. The activities of the Center will begin during the first months of 1998.
